Discover La Gacilly

La Gacilly is an ideal place to relax, dream, have fun and enjoy with family and friends; a saying goes that ‘La Bretagne ça vous gagne’ (Brittany makes you happy), and clearly La Gacilly will not make us say otherwise. A dose of greenery, good humour, variety and creativity – that’s La Gacilly in a nutshell.

Visit La Gacilly

If you are passionate about art, La Gacilly is a must-see. Its nickname is ‘Cité des Métiers d’art’ (City of Arts and Crafts), and we let you imagine how pleasantly surprised you will be during your visit. Let yourself drift through the alleyways and stroll among them. You can watch sculptors at work, glassblowers or potters. Each craftsman has his own speciality and is happy to talk to you about his painstaking and exciting work. There are many talented artisans in La Gacilly. If you come between June and September, you will also have the privilege of attending the Festival Photo La Gacilly. A breathtaking artistic moment in the open air that will surprise and delight you.

Whoever says Gacilly also says Yves Rocher. It was in this small village that founder Yves Rocher decided to open his Maison Yves Rocher. A 45-minute tour of the show where you can fully immerse yourself in the world of the brand through a multi-sensory scenography. Discover the staging, the amazing backdrops and the projections on the walls, as well as the light shows and special effects. You will have a unique experience that pays tribute not only to the brand, but also to biodiversity, nature, women and life.

Let yourself be guided around the world of the brand in the Yves Rocher Botanical Garden. It is located at the height of the Gacilly. The botanical garden was created in 1975. It is a botanical garden that extends over more than 2 hectares and whose aim is to preserve the fauna and flora. Thus, the Botanical Garden is a refuge for biodiversity LPO, a garden for threatened and/or endangered species and 1500 preserved plant species. The place alone is exciting for all the senses and makes you feel very small. Discover this vegetation, but also the bamboo forest and the French gardens.

Not far from La Gacilly, the canal from Nantes to Brest

The canal from Nantes to Brest is a great place to enjoy a range of activities. You can cycle, canoe, kayak, paddle, pedalo or electric boat and get as close to the canal as possible.

For the more daring among you, the breathtaking Île-aux-pies is the perfect place to attempt the craziest climbing tours you’ve ever undertaken.

Along the banks, you will come across anglers or pretty crêperies, each one better than the last, that will make you want to take a sweet break. You might also spot a few passers-by on bicycles, because yes, the canal can be explored by bike. The ride is gentle, calming and green. The big plus is that there are hardly any differences in altitude, so you can cycle with your children around Malestroit, Rohan, Josselin or even Pontivy. With friends or family, you will spend a pleasant time on the canal on foot, by bike or on the water, accompanied by the gentle sound of the birds and the flow of the water.
